Bollywood Star's Ex-Husband Dies Suddenly After Bee Sting During Polo Match

The shocking death of Indian business tycoon Sunjay Kapur, former spouse of Bollywood icon Karisma Kapoor, has sent shockwaves through international circles after medical experts suggested a bee sting might have caused his fatal heart attack during a polo tournament.

The 53-year-old industrialist collapsed unexpectedly last Thursday while competing in an elite polo match in England. Preliminary investigations indicate he may have inhaled or swallowed a bee during the intense sporting event, potentially triggering the cardiac episode that claimed his life.

Medical professionals across the UAE expressed alarm when contacted by Khaleej Times about this unusual case. While emphasizing such occurrences are uncommon, doctors warned that insect stings during physical activity can sometimes lead to catastrophic consequences even for healthy individuals.

The Hidden Dangers of Insect Venom

"Swallowing or inhaling a stinging insect can create multiple life-threatening scenarios," explained Dr. Suma Malini Victor, Cardiologist at Prime Medical Centre. "For allergy sufferers it may cause anaphylaxis - but even non-allergic individuals face danger if stung in sensitive areas like the throat or tongue where swelling can block airways completely."

P This tragic incident has spotlighted rare but serious medical conditions triggered by insect venom that many people remain unaware of until it's too late. P Dr Saad Kamil Dlli from Medeor Hospital noted: "While only five to ten percent of people with known allergies experience severe reactions to stings any obstruction in the airway becomes immediately life-threatening regardless of allergy history." P As authorities continue investigating Kapur's exact cause of death medical professionals are urging increased public education about emergency preparedness particularly for outdoor enthusiasts and those with known sensitivities. P Interventional cardiologist Dr Hesham Tayel stressed critical response measures: "Sting location determines risk level - oral cavity incidents require instant intervention Anxiety and oxygen deprivation during such events can destabilize heart rhythms especially if undiagnosed conditions exist At-risk individuals must carry epinephrine injectors and undergo proper allergy testing."
